Postpartum Doula Trainings
After over 10 years of supporting families through massage, birth support and postpartum care, I am delighted to now train new doulas.
Since 2023, I have led several trainings through Postpartum Partners, a service learning collaboration between Duke University Schools of Medicine and Nursing.
Additionally, I provide private doula trainings in the community. It is a joy to see students grow in skills and confidence—to “doula new doulas” and send them into the community to offer care and presence to families in the postpartum season.
Join me for my next 2 Day Postpartum Training in Durham, NC on February 6-7, 2026. The total investment is $1397 and includes a year long membership and ongoing mentor support with Doula Trainings International.
Payment plans and partial scholarships for BIPOC students are available. For more information email me at megan.m.rowell@gmail.com.
“I really appreciated the focus on practicing presence, communication and general support.
I had this desire going into the training to leave as an expert on everything postpartum. In retrospect, that was never going to happen and I also think that a weekend exclusively packed with that sort of information would be overwhelming—and also unnecessary.
I think talking through how we would respond, role play, and the 90 second exercise made me feel more prepared to support postpartum people (and also felt more valuable for us as humans who have relationships with other humans. I also think kicking the training off by discussing autonomy, reproductive justice and cultural humility really helped ground everything we then worked on.
I also loved the encouragement to not use phones or digital note taking. It was so refreshing to spend 2 days not attached to my screens.”
