Massage Therapy

Massage therapy table in peaceful office

I offer therapeutic massage that incorporates several modalities, including myofascial release, polarity therapy, breath-work and craniosacral therapy.

I will take time to listen to you with curiosity–paying attention to your needs and boundaries. Together we will develop a plan for the massage. I approach my work with compassion and offer consent-oriented, skillful touch.  My approach to massage is patient, specific and on the gentle side.

Massage Rates

I offer a sliding scale (for more info, see FAQ) to increase accessibility and enjoy the opportunity to operate from a place of trust and abundance.

  • I set my rates to meet my needs and tipping is not necessary.

  • Any payment above the suggested rate provides support for sliding-scale work.

  • 60 minutes: $80-$160 ($120 suggested)

  • 75 minutes: $100-180 ($140 suggested)

  • 90 minutes: $120-200 ($160 suggested)

  • 120 minutes: $160-240 ($200 suggested)

Massage details

Time: Session times are typically 5-10 minutes longer than the actual session time. For example, a 60 minute session with a check in before and after may last 70 minutes.

Locations: My primary office is at 1312 Broad Street in Durham, NC where I see clients Wednesday through Friday (and an occasional Saturday). I also see Carolina Meadow residents for in-home massage on Monday and Tuesday.

Referrals: I acknowledge that my sliding-scale may not be accessible to some folks. I would like to promote the following practitioners who I feel aligned with and also offer a wider range of rates:

Cleo Hyzy, she/her

Caroline Hampton, they/she

Ali Homan, she/her

Shakira Bethea, she/her

“This was my first massage with Megan and she was great throughout the process.

I've had therapeutic massage in the past but wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for and she was very helpful and communicative in working with me to figure out together what my body needed.”

 Massage FAQs

  • I am continuing to practice mask wearing and ask clients to do the same. Between sessions, I am sanitizing the face cradle and high touch surfaces. Additionally, there is a medical grade air purifier running when I am in the office.

  • My hope is that all who desire bodywork can receive it. I offer a sliding scale, which means you choose what rate makes sense for you–no need to explain your finances. I operate from a place of mutual trust, care and generosity.

  • Some features that allow me to accommodate bodies of a variety of size and mobility include: hydraulic features so I can raise and lower the height and/or angle of the table (for larger chests or limited range of motion in back) as well as table extensions to create more table width. If you have concerns about accessibility, please contact me. I would be grateful to work with you and ensure that your needs will be met.

  • Unfortunately, the building is not wheelchair accessible. There are 3 steps in order to reach the front porch and narrow doorways that may not accommodate all wheel-chairs. For a wheelchair accessible option, I recommend Durham Community Bodywork.

  • We can work together fully-clothed or you can undress to your comfort level. Only the area being worked will be undraped.
